Hot Fun in the Summertime!
Welcome to summer and all the great activities that go with it… the pool, the lake, tennis, and bar-b-ques! It’s time to take your body out of winter hibernation and let some skin show and let your
entire body breath. We here at The Studio want to help you greet the season with confidence. We want you to remember how your body felt when you were a kid running through a misty sprinkler and the strength you
felt when you climbed a tree. Your ongoing commitment to your heath and well-being promises to extend your quality of life, bring back that skip to your step and make you feel a little more comfortable in that cute
little bathing suit.
Where in the World is Carrie Jacobs?
Seeing a lot less of Carrie lately? She’s helping to keep The Studio on the cutting edge of fitness in Lake Norman. She’s traveling across the country to bring you the newest techniques and equipment
that makes your time at The Studio more effective and enjoyable. Next time you see her, ask her were she’s been and how she can help you freshen up your fitness regime.
As a mom, Carrie knows how hard it is when school lets out and all your routines get out of synch. “You’ve got to carve in ‘me’ time and make it a priority. The Studio is devoted to
your heath. Let us help you figure out a way to squeeze in a workout at an odd time or give you extra time to push your routine through a wall.”
Fitness in the Real World
Fitness in the real world is about enjoying the activities you’re probably already doing, just doing them a little more often and with time a bit more effort:
- Get in the pool with the kids, your friends or spouse and play a little, add it a few laps while you’re at it.
- Do some of the gardening yourself. Walk your yard – pull some weeds. Enjoy the green benefits!
- Go on a hike. We’ve got great parks around here! Don’t forget to wear a hat and sunscreen!
- Too hot to go outside? Go to a museum or drive to a mall that you usually don’t visit and walk the perimeter. (Yes, you can stop for a sale!)

Also, we’d like to welcome two new trainers to Pilates Studio At The Lake:
Katie Halstead
Katie Halstead was introduced to Pilates during her college career as a dance major at Stephens College. While rehearsing she injured her back and used Pilates as her method of rehabilitation. Within weeks
she was dancing again with a stronger core and more strength and flexibility than before.
After receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree she began her training and was later certified in the STOTT Pilates method. Recently, she also became a certified post rehab Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist
and an AFAA certified Personal Trainer.
As an avid runner Katie understands the benefits that Pilates has brought to her athletic background. She looks forward to sharing her love of Pilates with clients of varying backgrounds and levels.
Holli Kagan
Holli
Kagan was introduced to Pilates while studying dance and performing throughout college. By adding Pilates to her rigorous dance training regimen, she was able to more easily maintain a healthy and strong
physique. Holli credits Pilates for her ability to remain free of injury, as well as dramatically increasing the strength of her core. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with a major in Dance, at the New World
School of the Arts in Miami, Florida. After graduation, she continued to study and practice Pilates, as well as pursue her certification. Holli is also a certified Yoga instructor with the Yoga Alliance. She has been
practicing Pilates & Yoga for over 10 years and has been teaching Pilates since 2003.
